As we age, fine lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet and fatigue begin to show on the face. Botox® Cosmetic contains a neurotoxin called Botulinum toxin which, when injected, temporarily paralyzes the underlying muscles which cause fine lines and wrinkles. It is one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments with over 6 million treatments provided every year, able to blur skin dimpling, signs of aging and soften harsh jawlines. Therapeutically, Botox® can also be used to treat migraines, excessive sweating and various muscular disorders.
Botox® Cosmetic is the brand name for the neurotoxin Botulinum, which blocks nerve signals from reaching the muscles and paralyzes them using targeted, controlled injections. This minimizes facial movement and facial expression, helping to reduce their negative effects over time. Botox® Cosmetic is not facial filler – it does not fill in lines and wrinkles but simply restricts the movement of the muscles that are causing those wrinkles. It can, however, be used in combination with dermal filler for optimal results and skin smoothing.
Before treatment, your practitioner will review what was discussed during the consultation appointment and begin by mapping your face and marking the targeted areas. For those concerned about discomfort, ice or a numbing agent will be applied to the targeted areas. Your practitioner will then use a micro-needle to inject the Botox® Cosmetic into the facial muscles using the amount of injections necessary. Following your treatment, ice and pressure will be applied to soothe the treated area, numb tenderness and ease swelling.
You will begin to see results anywhere from 24-48 hours as the product begins to work and relax the muscles. Results will usually last up to four months for moderate to severe treatment.
When you are treated by a licensed, medical professional trained in facial anatomy, you will have beautiful, subtle, natural results with Botox®. People should not be able to tell you have had anything done, only that you look like the best version of yourself.
Botox® injections feel like a little pinch. Usually, ice will be used to numb the area, however, if you are particularly concerned about discomfort or have a low pain tolerance, ask your Arion practitioner to apply a numbing cream before proceeding.
The entire session will take about 20 minutes with your practitioner performing a facial analysis before beginning treatment and discussing/confirming your goals from your consultation. The treatment itself requires a quick 10 minutes.
There is minimal downtime associated with Botox® and you can resume your daily activities right after leaving our clinic.
