For vein laser treatment, laser energy penetrates skin, targets blood and eliminates blood and shrinks vessel/vein without affecting or damaging the surrounding skin tissue. This is an ideal treatment for sufferers of rosacea, as the laser energy will painlessly shrink and reduce the red blood vessels causing the skin to appear red and irritated. What the patient will be left with is even skin tone, and a significant (sometimes full) reduction in visible red blood vessels. As with many laser services, multiple treatments may be needed to achieve the desired results.
This can be more or less difficult depending on each patient’s individual characteristics such as skin colour. Many devices are limited in their utility because the different parameters cannot be adjusted independently (if at all). Understandably, vein laser treatment of darker skin is more challenging due to the higher concentration of melanin in the skin as a competing chromophore; in those cases treatment may be too painful or cause burning.
The Nd:YAG laser treatment handpiece coagulates and destroys large, deep, cosmetically unacceptable blood vessels and leg veins without the use of chemicals or needles. This easy-to-use, ergonomic handpiece effectively coagulates reddish telangiectasias, as well as bluish venule ectasia and reticular veins up to 4-mm diameter.
After ensuring clean, cleansed skin, your Arion Skin Laser practitioner will place protective goggles over your eyes, and get to work for Clarity™. With each pulse of the laser over the unwanted vein or vessel, you will feel something most clients describe as a sharp pinprick, or an elastic band snapping against the skin. This is tolerable, however, if you experience any discomfort, please ask your practitioner to apply numbing cream to the area.
Following your treatment, there is little to no downtime and you should be able to return to your normal routine and activities, as well as wear makeup. While some veins might immediately disappear, others may take more time for your body to break down and completely remove.
Pain depends largely on the patient and condition being treated. Your physician will work with you to ensure the treatment is as painless and comfortable as possible.
Depending on the size of the area being treated, treatment could take anywhere from 2 minutes to 15 minutes. For example, the treatment of a single vein on a cheek or nose may take 2 minutes, but an area on the back may take up to 10 minutes to complete.
