Semi-Permanent Makeup for Natural Looking Brows
Microblading is a semi-permanent form of eyebrow tattooing that is ideal for anyone wishing to have permanent makeup, reshape their eyebrows, get fuller brows, fill in gaps, fix over-plucked eyebrows, or save time in their morning routines. This can also be a great option for clients that have lost their eyebrow hair due to illnesses like cancer or alopecia. You can choose to have thick and full looking brows, bushy and fluffy natural looking brows, neatly groomed brows, the options are endless!
Permanent makeup is done by using a pen-like device with a razor attached to the end, which the technician uses to make tiny hair-like strokes (cuts) of pigment on the skin in the same direction as your own eyebrow hairs. This creates natural looking results that are semi-permanent and only require 1-2 annual touch-ups. Microblading does not damage existing hair, and does not require you to shave or wax your eyebrows.
Ombré Brows are the newest technique in eyebrow shading. They create a natural powder look that is softer looking than traditional microblading, and are 100% customizable. By brushing the skin with a single nano needle, a pigment layer is produced in a gradient of colour from dark to light. This mimics the natural colour progression of the brow from the tail and the core to the bulb. Ombre brows are very easy to maintain—they require zero tweezing, waxing or plucking and do not damage the existing brow hair. A touch up is required 6-12 weeks after the initial procedure. After that, touch ups are recommended yearly to maintain colour richness and shape. Ombre brows are generally more successful than other microblading techniques for those with oily skin, aging skin, acne prone skin, sensitive skin, and for those who have had previous permanent makeup.
Imagine – perfect, pouty lips with a natural looking tint of colour all the time. With cosmetic lip tinting, that dream can be a reality! This procedure is great alternative to lip injections for anyone that wants more sultry, defined lips without risking post-injection “duck face”.
Ideal for all skin tones and types, lip tinting enhances your natural lip shape by contouring your lips in a natural-looking way. After blending a custom hue the cosmetic tattoo artist creates a shade that is as subtle or bold as you like that will last for anywhere from three to five years. This procedure takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, and a touchup is required 6 to 12 weeks after the initial procedure.
Pre-Treatment
It is recommended to use either lysine or a cold sore preventative 7 to 10 days prior to the treatment to reduce the likelihood of col sores appearing during the healing process. On the day of the treatment, a topical numbing cream is applied directly to the lips, so you’ll feel only a light stippling sensation as the pigment is applied. A subtly darker shade is usually chosen for the lip outline and a softer shade for the centre.
Post Treatment
For the first 4 to 5 days, it is normal for your lips to appear slightly swollen and be sensitive to touch. As the pigment sets in it will deepen in the days to come, so it’s important to keep that in mind and to plan accordingly if you have any important events in the following week. Don’t worry if the colour appears darker than you had anticipated in the first few days as the pigment is the most dramatic 24-48 hours after the initial treatment. It is also recommended to not have this procedure done if you currently have lip fillers or injections, and to avoid wearing any lip makeup for 7 days after the procedure.
Pain tolerances vary, but your technician will use a strong numbing cream to ensure you are as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure. Clients say that it feels like a dull scratching, or even like threading. It only creates mild discomfort, but please inform your technician if the pain is too much.
In most cases, yes. During the healing process 30%-50-% of the pigment is lost, and some strokes can heal unevenly, or more faded than others. The initial appointment creates the base layer of hair strokes. The touch up creates a denser, even more natural look and fixes up any pigment that didn’t take.
No, you must wait the full 6 weeks before getting the touch up to allow the skin to fully heal, avoid unnecessary trauma to the skin, and allow the pigment to fully settle.
You can get touch ups when the tattoo has faded enough, or you feel you need a refresh. This is typically done after 1 year.
The consultation takes up the bulk of the appointment time, as we are mixing and picking the perfect colour for your brows, and agreeing on the best shape. Appointments are around 2 hours – 45 minutes-1hr for the consultation, 30 minutes for numbing, and 15-30 minutes for tattooing.
Microblading lasts 1-2 years, but pigment retention can vary depending on a multitude of factors. Oily skin, strong immune systems, iron deficiencies, sun exposure, regular exfoliating/microdermabrasion and smoking can all cause premature fading/pigment loss.
We use iron oxide pigments that fade over time, are harmless to the body, and naturally absorb into the skin
All needles, razors and hand tools come in sterilized individual packages, are single-use, and are disposed of after each client. The gloves, masks, gauze and cotton balls/swabs we use throughout the entire procedure are single-use only, and are disposed of after each client.
